Hello Everyone! It's our third day already. (: I am actually stunned to see the discussions and the progress that we have made. But... where's Jiwon?

WOW!! Amazing!! Sorry for the late show up. I’ve been listening to these songs repeatedly and I have found something! Even though they sound different, they seem to carry more similarities than differences. One similarity that I have noticed is that both music pieces are performed with string instruments. In “Poor Boy Blues,” Bill Lucas the vocalist accompanies himself on electric guitar, and he is joined by two other musicians, one on acoustic guitar and the other on drums. But in the Iranian traditional music, Santour is performing a solo as an accompanist due to the fact that it is an excerpt. Santour is like a wooden keyboard, but is actually three-octave wooden-hammered dulcimer with seventy two strings, which are arranged on adjustable tuning pegs in eighteen quadruple sets, nine (bronze) in the low register, and nine (steel) in the middle register. I had to research some of these cultures in order to make connections. Haha. I should give myself a pat on the back. 

Just to add some things on what Jiwon has said, I noticed that both songs have tough and strong timbre. The songs create such timbre due to the Bill Lucas’s clear voice and the plucking instrumentation of Santour throughout the music piece.
